I just realized that I haven’t posted any weird Florida stuff lately.

As a writer, I’m always looking for new sources of drugs ideas, and one could hardly find a better source than the hot, humid, sun-crazed humanoids of the Sunshine State.  (I have a theory is that mildew has psychedelic properties, but that’s a ‘nother story.)

The following story has pulled into “weird news” feed on the net, it’s short so I’m just bootlegging a chunk of it. Fuck ’em if they can’t take a joke.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Federal Communications Commission officials and deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s gang unit busted a pirate radio station they say was reportedly broadcasting information on where to buy drugs.

Authorities say the “Street Heat” broadcast included live advertisements for criminal gangs and discussions of where to buy drugs and find prostitutes.

Balthazard Senat and Christopher Robert Roth were arrested Friday and charged with unauthorized transmission and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver. Officials say Roth was a DJ for the radio station.

Hm.

After reading this again, and factoring in the jobless rate in Florida?  Yeah, the idea of broadcasting where to snag some bud and a ho is criminally stupid, and anything that promotes gangs sucks ass.  But… yet…

Flashback warning — it’s 1974 and I’m on my CB radio in my car talking to my amigo, arranging a rendezvous to procure some “90 weight gear oil” — our agreed upon code for… well, hey. I’m not going to give it away.

As for the ho’s — well, everybody was giving it away back then, it was a depressed market. Supply and demand.

Hm.  The more things change, the more they don’t really change at all.
